Stanley Dangerfield

International dog show judge Stanley Dangerfield wrote canine articles for the Daily Express and Country Life magazine, among others. He had columns in the British weekly magazines Dog World and Our Dogs and is the author of numerous dog books. He was a member of the UK Kennel Club from 1952. The British public knew him from TV series he starred in until the late 1950s, including.
- The Smokey Club: a BBC Scotland TV magazine for dog owners, which appeared every month or two from 1955 to 1957¹.
- My Friend Sheltie (producer: Ann Shead): a weekly series on the care and training of his new Sheltie puppy and other interesting pets, broadcast in the afternoon programme.²
- Good Companions: a pet programme for pet owners.

In his 144-page book TALKING ABOUT DOGS, Rockcliffe, London, GB, 1958 you can find a canine biography of him on the back cover:
"THE AUTHOR is well known to B.B.C. Television audiences for his series My Friend Sheltie, in which he trains his own Shetland Sheepdog, and as Editor of the Smokey Club and of the new dog programme called Good Companions. He is a judge of all breeds, regularly en­gaged all over Great Britain and abroad, is Chief Steward of Cruft's Dog Show, for which he is the official B.B.C. commentator, and is a correspondent for Our Dogs, The Field, Tail-Wagger Magazine, Kennel Gazette, etc. He himself owns a Standard Poodle, a Griffon and a Shetland Sheepdog, all of whom make frequent television appearance, and a Wire Haired Fox Terrrier and a Scottish Terrier, who are both show dogs."
